Can students in apartments participate?

Where does MeterHero best fit in the AP Environmental Science course?
(1) Start of the year; (2) As an at-home enhancement during the Units 5 and 6 (water/energy); (3) As a post-exam project.
How much does MeterHero cost??
The costs are covered for teachers by water and energy utility providers who see tremendous value in empowering youth with utility data: (1) to help our communities use resources more effciently; (2) to spread awarness within underserved communities of assistance available; (3) to encourage young people to consider careers in the water and energy fields.
Do students have to have access to a smartphone or the internet at home in order to participate?
As a web-based program, MeterHero is compatible across all internet connected devices. However, MeterHero provides resources to allow students without smartphone or internet access to record readings by hand (then enter them online later from a school or library computer).
Is there published evidence of MeterHero’s effect on student achievement?
Researchers at Loyola University Chicago and Marquette University conducted a randomized control study of how MeterHero’s use of real and personal data with students impacts their sense of self efficacy and desire to pursue STEM activities. The positive results were published in a scholarly academic Journal: Condon, M. & Wichowsky, A. (2018). Developing Citizen-Scientists: Effects of an Inquiry-Based Science Curriculum on STEM and Civic Engagement. The Elementary School Journal, 119(2), 196-222
